RAFTING DIFFICULTY LEVELS

The rapids in Potrerillos are mostly Class II (intermediate) — passages with some waves and strong but manageable movements, ideal for beginners and families. In practical terms:
Level II (medium): Most of the stretch falls into this category. These are fun and safe rapids with enough movement to heighten the excitement without requiring much technique.
Level III and III+ (medium / strong): We navigate some more intense Class III and III+ rapids. These sections have bigger waves and water drops, perfect for those seeking more adventure. You'll always be accompanied by certified guides who tell you how to handle each obstacle.
Level IV (advanced): Only reached in extreme flood conditions. Our standard tours don't include Class IV sections, but if the water level rises significantly you may encounter very fast stretches — always supervised by the guides.
Don't worry if it's your first time: no prior experience is needed. MADS guides will teach you the basics (paddling, positions, signals) and adapt the pace to the group's level so you always enjoy it safely.
